Earth Day 2009

Hope you spent some of your day enjoying the outdoors. I should have been working in the garden, but instead I spent the day with my daughter, Ashlee. She worked so hard during tax season and I decided she needed a break, so we went shopping.

We started out by going to the Native Roots Market in Norman, our small version of Whole Foods. We had fun wandering the aisles. We bought a few things and redeemed our coupons for a free, earth-friendly, reusable shopping bag. We headed to Jamba Juice and had healthy, smoothie drinks. Mine was Mango Mantra..very good. Then went to Sephora to pick up a Mother's Day gift for Ellena, my other daughter who lives in Puerto Rico. Need to get it in the mail next week. Came home around 3pm and ate a sandwich and Ashlee is off to do her daily exercises. Wish I could be as dedicated to exercise. I would rather be rughooking, quilting, dyeing wool..anything besides exercise.

I did dye some of my DMC floss the other day. Turned out pretty good. Ginger,(Primitives by the Light of the Moon) told me what to do. You use Tan Rit dye and it makes the floss more primitive looking.

Ok, tomorrow I should work in my garden. Needs weeds pulled and leaves raked away from the new growth. That is my plan, unless my husband, Jeff wants to go to the Arts Festival. I could do that...garden will always be there for another day.

Enjoy this earth day and do something green for the environment and our grandchildren. Have a great rest of the week and always smile.

Party Day!!

Well, April 15th is finally past. Made our historic post office run at 6:00pm yesterday, which was so much better than 11:30pm last year. It was great to be home by 7:00pm and relax. I am taking the rest of the week off.

Today, I spent the day with my Mom. We did a little shopping and had lunch. Took her home and updated the virus protection on her computer. Helped her clean out a closet and then came home. Did a little housework and fixed supper. I checked my email and decided I should post on my blog. Haven't done it in awhile.

It's been thundering and lightning, so the rain should be moving in shortly.

I updated my lemon poppyseeds shoppe, so take a moment to visit.

Here is my latest rughooking project. Just need to bind it now.

So that is all I have been doing this week. Take care and enjoy the weekend.

Brrrrrr!!!

Well, it did really drop below freezing here last night. I can't believe this is April. I like the cold and all, but I am ready for spring to be here. I want to play in the dirt and plant flowers. I am ready to be outside more. I guess all good things come in time though.

I haven't been too creative this week. Have been a little under the weather. But today I am feeling somewhat better so maybe those creative juices will begin to flow again.

My son, Nick, is going to school in Washington DC and ran in the Cherry Blossom run this past Sunday. His first official run..10 miles..finished 1 hr 39 minutes which he was very proud of. He said the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and they look and smell wonderful.
Wishing everyone a great week and Happy Easter. Enjoy time with your family and friends this week. Do something nice for someone you don't know. Always keep smiling.

April Fool's Day

Beware of the jokesters all around you today. Jeff (my husband)just loves to play April Fool's jokes, and he sometimes catches me offguard. But I know it is all in fun.

Hopefully spring is finally here. The weather has warmed up nicely, but the wind is blowing like it is still March. But that's Oklahoma for you.

I have updated my Poppy Shoppe so check it out:www /lemonpoppyseeds.com/. Be sure to check out some of the other artisans listed. There is a lot of great items for sale there.

Have a great rest of the week and go outside and enjoy the sunshine!!
