Saturday Evening News

Well, the week is over and decided I should do a quick post. Busy rest of the week after returning home from the Jane Olson workshop. Ginger and I had a great time and learned a lot .
The local rughooking ladies entertained us on the last day with a song by Arlo Guthrie, "I just wanna ride on my motorcycle". Quite funny!
and here are our wonderful teachers.....Jane Olson (l) Diane Burdett(r)
We had a great time and hope to attend next year.

This morning my sister-in-law, Danna and I went to the quilt shop in Hennessey, OK for a fat quarter frenzy sale. All fat quarters were $1.44. Needless to say, I bought my share of fat quarters. Lots of fun though.

This afternoon I went to Country Collections in Moore, OK for our rughooking group. We meet on Saturday for those who cannot come on our regular Tuesday group. Kay has been on vacation so she came and showed us her wool quilt that she finished.
Sandra also finished her rughooking that she has been working on for awhile. I think it is a wonderful piece and Sandra did a great job on it.So now it is time to work on an online retreat with a group I belong to...first time I have done this. So guess I better get busy...my husband is out of town for the weekend, so I can stay up as long as I want....oh boy ((-:

Have a good Sunday and stay cool. Hoping for rain tomorrow.

Road Trip Again!!!!

Ginger and I have been in Lubbock, Texas since Sunday afternoon at at rughooking workshop with Jane Olson. We are having a great time. We signed up to learn the art of rug braiding. Not as easy as it sounds, but we have completed our chair pads and are now working on a small, oval rug.Jane Olson is an amazing lady. She is quite talented and has a unique sense of humor. She has given us some good tips about rughooking.

The other ladies attending the workshop are also very talented. They all hook in 3, 4, or 5-cut wool strips. Their rugs are beautiful. Lots of detail and shading. So, as you can see we are having a wonderful time. Tomorrow is our last day, so we will be heading back to OKC in the afternoon.

Have a great week!!!

Family Time

Well, I had an awesome weekend!!! Spent lots of time with son, daughters, grandsons, and family.

We had a family get-together Friday night with all the fixins. Smoked brisket, ribs and bratwursts along with potato salad, deviled eggs, ice box cake and chocolate cake. Nick arrived from DC at 6pm. Picked him up at the airport and headed to the party at 7pm. Lots of good food and family time. Grandma brought cornbread and buttermilk, Nick's favorite thing to eat besides ice cream. Found out that Ellena liked it too, so he fixed her a glass, too.Carlos finally gave up around 11pm. We finally called it a night around midnight. Fun was had by all and no one left hungry.

Ellena, Alex, Andres, and Carlos spent the night and Saturday we spent the day playing in the pool.Water guns and bubbles were part of the fun. I think Grandpa was having as much fun as the grandsons.Even with the 105 degree weather, we had a great time outside .

Spent the rest of the evening with Nick and family. What a great weekend!!

Have a great week...stay cool

Road Trip--Oklahoma Aquarium

Hope everyone is well. Physical therapy is going well. Two more visits and then follow-up with the doctor.

Ellena and family are here from Puerto Rico and we are having a great time together. We headed to Jenks, OK on Wednesday afternoon. Ellena and Alex had a good friend from Rogers, AR we met in the evening for dinner. Carlos was a little charmer the whole time. Went to the hotel after dinner, got Andres and Carlos to bed and visited for awhile.

Got up Thursday morning, had breakfast and then headed to the Oklahoma Aquarium. Didn't know Oklahoma had an aquarium like this. Andres, Ellena and Alex upon arrival at the aquarium. Andres was so excited to see the fish. Grandpa and Carlos looking at the fish.

There is so much to see and do at the aquarium. Andres fed the turtles carrots with a clothespin fishing pole. Here he got to pet the stingrays.

Then it was time for the feeding of the sharks. The sharks are in a large tank and you can walk into a tunnel and they will swim above your head. Pretty eerie. Enjoying the fish.
Fun was had by all, including my other daughter, Ashlee and her boyfriend, Dominic.
We had a late lunch at Los Cabos, a Mexican restaurant close to the aquarium, and then headed for home. It was a great adventure and lots of memories were made.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend and stays cool. The temperature today in Oklahoma City was 105 degrees. Enjoy your family and friends always.

Happy 4th of July

Well, hope everyone has had a good 4th of July so far. I actually spent the day working in my garden. It was so relaxing and I had such a great time. I haven't got to work in it much because of my knee pain, but since surgery I have been pain free. I did take it easy, though. I took several breaks during the day. But it was wonderful. My garden actually is beginning to look like someone is taking care of it again.
The weather really cooperated too. There was cloud cover most of the day and it even rained a small amount. The birds were also enjoying the day. I caught this blackbird getting a drink from the bird bath.My husband, Jeff also had a very good day. He worked hard cleaning up the shed and backyard. He has talked about doing it for awhile and he finally found a day that worked for him. He really did a great job and was really happy when the evening came.He told me this was his first grade picture smile. He looks really happy, huh!

Well after everything was done, it started getting dark in the southwest and we are now having heavy rain with lightning and thunder. It is truly a welcome rain, though. Everything was really getting dry and I had started watering the garden and front yard. I guess I was just priming it for the rain. We had planned on going to watch fireworks later, so don't know how this weather will affect that. Just have to wait and see.

So I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th. Enjoy your time with your family. My daughter did arrive from Puerto Rico yesterday and I can't wait to see them and start having some long awaited family time.

Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
