Tuesday Evening

Hello all,

Just finished updating my LemonPoppySeed Shoppe so if you have a little extra time, stop by and enjoy. Here is the link: http://www.lemonpoppyseeds.com/. There are a lot of talented artisans there so be sure and check them out.
Started my second week of physical therapy and it is going well. Each day the soreness is less. Still have to wait to start a walking program, but as my husband says, "Soon".

Still working on cleaning house for my company this weekend, so guess I better get back to work.

Jeff just got home from work and looking for something for supper. Have a good evening.

It's Monday!

Just thought I would post a quick note. Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It actually cooled off a little bit here on Sunday...90 degrees compared to 103 degrees on Saturday. Even got a little bit of rain.

I went to the farmer's market on Saturday and bought lots of fresh veggies..baby leaf lettuce, eggplant, green beans, okra, and cabbage. I love summer when you can get all the fresh veggies you want.

Ellena, Alex, Andres and Carlos will be here on Friday, July 3 from Puerto Rico. My daughter, her husband and grandsons. They will be here most of July. I am so excited. Have planned a lot of fun things to do while they are here.

So guess I better get started cleaning house and such. Have a great week and enjoy family.

Happy Birthday, Mom

Well, I am a couple of days late posting, but Tuesday, June 23 was my Mom's 77th birthday. I had physical therapy for my knee in the morning and then spent the rest of the day with my Mom. We had lunch at Shorty Smalls..a hamburger joint..it was good and we ate too much. She had some errands she wanted to do so we spent the afternoon doing that. We had a taco around 6pm and then went my brother's house for cake and ice cream.

These are some pictures I took at the party. Starting with me and my Mom. Then my brother, Andy, wife, Sharon, daughter, Amber, and son-in-law, Jeremy. The last one is my Mom and sister, Trish.Sharon made brownies and butter pecan cake. Mom blew out her candle...all Sharon could find was the number zero..Mom said that was OK.We fixed brownie sundaes with all the fixings and enjoyed the evening with family. My niece, Kara came by with her son, Ayden and he entertained us the rest of the evening. He finally settled down long enough to have great Aunt Sharon read him a book.
My Mom and I had a wonderful day together and there will be many more to come.

Almost time to head to physical therapy, so have a great day and stay cool. We are in an ozone alert today and it is supposed to reach 100 degrees.

Blessings....patijane
Have a great rest of the week

Texas Rugfest 2009

We arrived Sunday evening in Grapevine, Texas for the Texas Rugfest on Monday. I have never been to Grapevine and was quite impressed. We checked into our hotel and then took a quick tour of historic downtown.Lots of interesting building and statues to see. We then headed back towards the hotel to find a place for dinner. Ended up at El Fenix Mexican restaurant. Ate our fill of chips and salsa, enchiladas, tamales and of course, sopapias. Needless to say, we were stuffed.

Got up Monday morning and had breakfast at the hotel. Grabbed our rughooking gear and headed to the rugfest. We arrived around 9am and found us a table to sit at.

Vendors didn't open until 9:30am so we sat and visited and hooked on our rugs until then.
Several of the rughookers brought their rugs to share with the group. Here are some of the rugs we got to see.

This rug was hooked by a lady that will be 103 years old in the fall. She hooked it for her great grandson and it is called "Little Boy Blue"Some more amazing rugs.

We had an amazing day and enjoyed visiting with other rughookers and the vendors. We found some awesome pieces of wool and new patterns to hook.

We left that afternoon headed home with our treasures.

Great road trip with wonderful friends and lots of memories.

Have a great week and give hugs to all you love.

Road Trip

Happy Father's Day! I know we are not fathers, but probably most of us have a wonderful husband who is a father and we need to let them know how much we love and appreciate them. Also our fathers...today is the first Father's Day without my Dad. He passed away in September 2008 from lung cancer. I miss him tremendously and think of him every day. So be sure and tell your husband and your Dads how much you love them today and every day.

Now, ROAD TRIP...YAY!!!!!

Me, my friends, Ginger and Sandra are headed to Grapevine Texas for the 4th annual Texas Rugfest. We are leaving this afternoon. The rugfest is tomorrow (Monday) all day. There will be vendors of wool and patterns. Like I need more wool and patterns, but I tell myself...you can never have too much. The beautiful rugs we will get to see...it is just amazing the talent you see at these events. Will have pics and what we did when we get back on Tuesday. Till then, have a great Sunday and enjoy time with family and friends.

Friend Time

Hello all,

Just a quick post before the weekend. My husband, Jeff took me to my follow-up doctor appointment this morning. Stitches were removed from my left knee and everything is good. He said no walking marathons yet, but don't need a cane or walker anymore. Yay!!!! After leaving the doctor's office, we had lunch at a Latin American/Mexican restaurant called "Zarate's. It was good. Ate too much so I am definitely not hungry this evening.

QUILT SHOW

My good friend, Sandra and I attended the Central Oklahoma Quilters Guild quilt show on Thursday, June 18. She came to my house and picked me up around 9:30am. We spent the next 3 hours checking out the vendors and walking down the aisles of beautiful quilts on display by the quilters of the guild. I am partial to crazy quilts(hope someday to make one)and the quilt on the left was simply beautiful. The quilt on the right was called "Who is at the bottom of your family tree?" I liked it alot.

I love Halloween and this quilt was very colorful.
This quilt was made from the quilter's Father's ties. Lots of work but I am sure it brought back a lot of memories. The last two quilts were my favorites. The quilter made the cowboy quilt for a grandson and had a picture of a cowgirl quilt she was in the process of making for his twin sister. I am sure her grandchildren will thoroughly enjoy them. The Oklahoma quilt is also one I hope to piece together someday. I have the pattern and am collecting fabric for it.

So that is what has been happening with me for the last couple of days. Hope everyone has a great weekend. It's supposed to be really hot here this weekend so if you are having the same kind of weather, be sure and stay cool and hydrated. Just sit in the shade and enjoy a nice, big glass of lemonade.

I'm back !!

Well, it has been a long time since I have posted to my blog. May was a very busy month and June is looking the same.
I did make it back from North Carolina and then left a week later for Washington DC.

My husband and I spent a few days there with our son, Nick, before he started an internship for the summer at Accion International. We went to the National Mall on Sunday and walked around the different war memorials. It was an awesome experience to see these memorials.

Men and women have given their lives for our freedom and we should give thanks everyday for their bravery.

We had dinner at a restaurant called "Tonic" near George Washington University.

We left for home the next day and got back late Tuesday evening.

It seems like we have been on the go ever since.

I have had some knee issues over the past three years and finally went to the doctor again. I have a torn meniscus in my left knee and had arthroscopic surgery Friday, June 12. I am recovering nicely, though. I will start physical therapy for the next four weeks and then hopefully can start back with my walking and gardening and being outside.

I have finished rughooking the 4 season rugs I have been working on.

I also finished my Uncle Sam wallhanging in time for July 4th. It is from an old Debbie Mumm book, "Americana Country".

And finally, I finished a stitchery I started while I was in North Carolina. It is called "Pantry Cuttings" by Ginger Cookie Company.

So that's all that I have been up. I didn't get to go Eureka Springs for the rughooking get-together, because of my knee surgery.

My friend, Ginger said it was wonderful and there were lots of beautiful rugs. Check out her blog:http://primitivesbythelightofthemoon.blogspot.com. Also check out:http://primitivebettys.blogspot.com. She did a great job telling about the weekend. I am going to the Texas Rugfest in Grapevine, June 22. Can't wait :)

Have a great evening and give your loved ones a hug.
