Three days in North Carolina

Hello all,

We arrived in Raleigh, North Carolina on Wednesday and the weather has been beautiful. Have had a great time visiting with family and enjoying the sites. My brothers and families live in Cary which is kinda like a suburb of Raleigh.

We are going to a graduation party this evening for my niece, Shay , who is graduating tomorrow from East Carolina University in Greenville. She has been accepted to Chapel Hill to do graduate studies.

My son, Nick, just finished finals at Georgetown and was headed to St Maartens this morning to meet up with friends to go on a week long sailboating trip in the Caribbean. He called me around noon and was in Charlotte NC. His plane had been delayed in DC because of weather and by the time he arrived in Charlotte he had missed his flight to St Maartens. Can't get another flight out until Saturday morning, so he rented a car is coming to Raleigh for the evening to visit. Really excited! Will be glad to see him before he takes off on his adventure.

My Mom and I visited a really cool quilt shop in Cary. In an old two-story house and full of fabric and patterns. I haven't located any rughooking yet, but maybe next week. We are going to venture out a little bit more.

Well guess I better close...headed to pick up my sister-in-law, Sandy, who has been so kind to let us use her car while she is at work. Have a great weekend and enjoy family time.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ON SUNDAY.

Still Raining!!

Well, it is Tuesday afternoon and still dreary outside and wet. The grass is really green, but it is almost a foot tall. But the rain is much needed, so no complaints from me. It keeps me inside and doing things that would not normally get done if the weather was nice outside.
Tomorrow is my birthday and I am flying to Cary, North Carolina with my Mom for my niece's college graduation on Saturday. So, since I am going to be gone, Ashlee, Nick and their Dad, surprised me with gifts and lunch. Also included was Mother's Day gifts. I knew they wouldn't forget, just thought they would wait until I came back. But it was really nice and I enjoyed lunch..Mexican..my favorite.

I finished quilting a Halloween quilt that I had pieced about a year ago. It turned out pretty good. I am still pretty new at machine quilting, but it was a good quilt to practice on.
Also been doing a little rughooking. I finished two of four scenes. They aren't very big and went pretty fast. I think I will try to find an old window with four panes and use it as a frame.
Well guess I better go. Need to finish packing for my trip and do some house cleaning before I leave. Have a great rest of the week and do something fun with your family.

Happy May Day!

I can't believe it is already May. Seems like this first quarter of the year has flown by. I guess that's what happens when you get older. Time flies when you're having fun.

Busy, busy week. Seems never enough time in the day to get everything done. But that's Ok, 'cause there is tomorrow.

This weekend is supposed to be rain-filled, as if this week hasn't already been that way. Now instead of watching for tornadoes, we are watching for flooding. We really need the rain, but not all at once. However, I think that is just the way it goes.

My sister-in-law, Danna, decided we needed a larger TV for our "quilt cave", so she purchased a 42" plasma TV. I have never had a TV that large. Makes you feel like you are right there with them.

Have been doing a little bit of rughooking..trying to get some of those kits that I have accumulated done.

My Mom and I are flying to Raleigh, North Carolina Wednesday, May 6 to go to my niece's graduation from college on Saturday, May 8. It will be a nice change from Oklahoma. I have never been there and am looking forward to seeing family and the sights.

Have a great weekend and enjoy time with your family.
