Awesome Day at Rock Creek Hook-in in Lenexa KS

We had absolutely the most wonderful day today.  Up at 6am to get ready to leave for the hook-in. We ate breakfast at the hotel and then loaded our stuff and headed to the community center.  We arrived, parked the car, and prepared to stand in line until 9am.

Ginger is entertaining Reggie (rughooker from Lubbock TX. We met her when we went to the Jane Olson workshop last year) I think she was showing us her Zumba moves.

There were lots of great vendors, Black Sheep Wool Designs, Pine Island Primitives, Basket of Wool, Anita White, Victoria Ingalls, Rustic Rugs, Going Gray, Bea Brock, Hollyhock Designs, just to name a few. There were more, I just can't remember them all.

Here is one of the patterns I bought from Pine Island Primitives,

Time to meet old friends and new friends.  We met JoJo from our USAPRIM, ebay group.  Betty and her SIL, Robin, we met last year.

Here are some of the rugs that were on display:

This rug was designed by a 6-yr old boy.

So that is all for now.  We ate lunch with Betty and Robin before they headed back home.  We headed to Liberty, MO to check out some more shops.  I will post those later.  Time to wind down and think about getting some sleep.

We are heading for home tomorrow, but deciding what stops to make along the way.  Have a great evening.

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful day with friends, rugs, and shopping! Wow oh wow!

  2. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures from the hook in. I honestly can NOT imagine being in the same room as SO many rug hookers! Our largest hook in had 33 people, but we're growing and hopefully the crowds will grow too.

  3. Patijane, what fun you guys must have had! Thanks for posting pictures so quickly. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your adventures. Have a safe trip home!

  4. Love the rugs!! Looks like it was a great time. The rug you bought is just too sweet! And how nice to hook up with some friends :). Can't wait to hear more about the shops you stopped at too! Thanks for sharing. Felt like I was there.

  5. Great pics Pati Jane! I feel like I'm on the trip with you! Sounds like you are packing a lot into your trip. Have fun and safe travel home.

  6. Sounds like you are having a great time. I love the rugs you have shown so far and really like the one you purchased. I love the one drawn by the child. That truly is the primitive style I like.
    Have fun and be safe.

  7. Wow what fun you guys had. Gotta let us know where you stopped on the way home. Have fun hooking your new pattern it will be great.

  8. Pati, it was so much fun! The whole day! It was great to see you all again & I can hardly wait to see you again! :) Thank you again for the bag of treasures. I LOVE them!
