Happy New Year!!!!!

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Year. Emma came over and spent New Year's eve with us so that was the extent of our celebrating. She did ring in the New Year by staying up past midnight.

Nick left on New Year's day to head back to Mexico where he is working with an organic farming co-op in Juluchuca. He moved into an apartment in the city of Zihuatenajo before coming home for Christmas and was ready to get back there and get settled in before Jeff and I go down there to visit next week.

We had a nice Christmas with family and friends. We celebrated Christmas Eve at my Mom's home. Christmas Day, Ashlee, Emma and Dominic came over and opened presents. Emma was so much fun this Christmas. She liked opening presents and would stop and play with each one. It took awhile for her to get them all opened...lol

Several years ago, I won a Christmas quilt top from a local quilt store in Oklahoma City during a shop hop. Well this past summer, I finally bought the backing for it and Danna (my sister-in-law) and I put it on the quilting machine so I could start quilting it. Well, I never did get time to get it started, but Danna would go to the studio and work on it. So the week before Christmas Danna comes by one evening and she hands me the quilt. It is beautiful!!!!!! She did so much more quilting on it than I would have done. I am one lucky gal to have such a wonderful sister-in-law in my life.

Well that's my Christmas holidays this year. Enjoyed time spent with Nick, Ashlee, Emma, Dominic and Jeff and time spent with my Mom and my brothers and their families that live here.

Getting ready for tax season, but first will be taking a trip to Mexico for a couple of weeks. I hope to do some posts on my blog while I'm there. So check back when you can.

Time for family and friends!!!

Of course, I don't have it bound yet, but

I am so glad to be finished.

Last Tuesday (Dec 13) was our monthly

rughooking gathering.

Everyone brought a handmade gift

He was afraid Emma wouldn't remember him,

but she wasted no time in getting

him to color and read with her.

Oklahoma weather is so unpredictable.

It has been in the 50's and 60's

the last few days.

We have received some good

rains though which is

helping the drought situation.

Emma was enjoying the water puddles!!!

One More Week...

and Nick will be home for Christmas. Looking forward to seeing him and spending time with family and friends.

Don't you just love this snowman pillow? Joanne was doing a giveaway on her blog and I was one of the lucky winners. She hooked it on a piece of wool and it is simply wonderful. I love it!!!!! Thank you so much, Joanne. Tell the boys thank you too!!!

I have been hooking on Emma's rug that I started in June and am almost finished. I will post a picture in a day or two. This is the pattern that Frank Bielec drew from a picture I had of Emma at Tyler Rug Camp in May. I was supposed to have it finished by her first birthday (July 13) but it didn't happen. I think because it is "pink". So watch for it in the next post.

Jeff and I went to a Christmas celebration he read about in the paper at Perkins, OK last Thursday evening. It is a small town and I think everyone was there to celebrate. They served frito chili pie, homemade desserts and hot cocoa. It was at the Oklahoma Territorial Plaza. Several old buildings that had been moved there and restored were open to walk thru. Santa arrived on the local fire truck and kids were lined up waiting to tell him what they wanted for Christmas. We even took a hayride through a nearby neighborhood. It was a nice evening trip!!

Ashlee had pictures of Emma made with angel wings. Emma wasn't too impressed with them at first, but the photographer did get some good shots.

Well, I hope to get a Christmas tree this weekend and get some decorating done. Started my Christmas shopping and hope to do a little bit more this weekend, too. Hope to get some baking done too.

A cold front came thru this evening and I hope it stays cold for awhile. I like the cold weather especially during Christmas time.

Road Trip to Canton TX...First Monday Trade Days

Well, this was our starting point on Friday at Canton TX, First Monday Trade Days.

This was our first time to be here and there was so much to see. We started at 8am. Stopped for lunch at 12:30. Did more shopping and left about 2pm.

We didn't even put a dent in seeing all that was available, but needed to head back home and decided there would definitely be more trips to First Monday in the future.

I came home with some old wooden bobbins and silver spoons.

Scrabble tiles, an old oil can and a glass star ornament for the Christmas tree.

Our trip began on Thursday morning driving to Lindale TX to meet with Jeff's niece, Donna and her husband, Wendell. We got there about 11:30am.

Jeff talked business with them and then we went to lunch. We said our good-byes and the fun part of our trip began.

We drove to Mineola, TX and spent the afternoon browsing the many antique stores there.

I liked this shop the best. Lots of vintage items.

I found cookie cutters, vintage glass Christmas tree ornaments and

a Scrabble game with lots of tiles.

I'm going to use them to make some ornaments with old yardsticks.

The color of this shelf caught my eye. I could see lots of possibilities

but when I saw the price tag, $345, decided I would have to

let it remain at the store.

We walked around to see some of the other sites. I snapped

a picture of this house because I liked the porch.

I'm sure in its early days it was spectacular.

We came across this hardware store. The window displays caught my eye.

We didn't get to go in though. It closed at 3pm.

We missed it by 10 minutes.

We looked thru the window and it had lots of neat stuff, but was

also a delicatessen. Maybe next time we can go in.

We drove to Canton Thursday evening and

found a bed and breakfast to stay at for the night.

Nice room with a king-size bed.

View out the front door was the pool with a hot tub.

Too cool right now, but might go back next spring.

So that was our latest road trip.

Ginger told me about a craft show

this weekend so will be checking it out Saturday morning.

Emma is coming over around 3pm on Saturday.

Ashlee and Dom have a concert to go to.

Think Emma and I will get started on decorating for Christmas

The weatherman is calling for a snow here by Monday.

Hope he is right. Would like to see some of that white stuff.

Ginger and I have opened an ETSY shop,

so stop by and check it out.

Time to Deck the Halls

With Thanksgiving celebrations over, I guess it is time to start thinking about Christmas. Every year it seems that the month of December gets here a little quicker. Guess I better start looking for the lights and decorations.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my family. We ate lunch at my Mom's home. My brother, Jim, provided the turkey and ham, along with BBQ ribs. He has this thing about BBQ. Ribs were really good though. He has lived in Maui for the past 20 years and he and his wife, Paula(whom he married while in Maui) have moved back to Oklahoma. His daughter, Jamie and her boyfriend, Carl, came over to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. Carl has never been off the island or even flown in an airplane so it has been a new experience for him. On Friday, Jim and family left to go show Carl some sights in Oklahoma. Other family there was my brother, Andy, and wife, Sharon, our daughter, Ashlee, Dom and of course, Emma, my cousin, Mary Margaret and her husband, Bobbie and their daughter, JoLynn and of course, Jeff, me and my Mom. Our son, Nick stayed in Mexico, but did get to have Thanksgiving dinner at Playa Viva. Ellena, Alex and the boys stayed home in Puerto Rico and celebrated Thanksgiving with friends. Everyone had a wonderful time visiting and no one went home hungry!

Ashlee came over Sunday afternoon and got her tree and decoration. Looks like Emma was a big help in decorating the tree.

Ashlee said Emma had as much fun playing in the tree box as she did hanging ornaments on the tree.

I have been working on some goodies for a Christmas swap we do each year on an ebay group I belong to. Will try and post some pictures later. I haven't pulled them off my camera yet. This is an awesome group and feel privileged to be a part of it...lots of talented ladies in this group...you can check them out under usaprim on ebay.

Well guess I better close and head for bed. Got a busy week of work ahead but hope to take a road trip on Thursday to check out First Monday in Canton, TX. Have a great week and do something kind for a stranger. Tis the season of giving...

It's Friday!!!

Well, I had a good week. Worked on Monday and then played the rest of the week. Tuesday, I met Ginger at our booth in the antique mall and we got it ready for the holiday season.

I have been working on some Christmas things, but keep forgetting to take pictures of them.

I did remember to take a picture of this small white feather tree I made out of white wool. I made 10 of them and think they turned out really cute. Will be working on some other items this weekend and will try to remember to take pictures.

Ginger and I have decided to offer some of our handmade primitives on a new blog, Prairie Moon Primitives. We hope to have some things listed early next week so be sure and check it out.

Emma and I hung out together on Wednesday and Thursday. The weather has turned cold again and we couldn't go outside. So we played inside. She entertained me with her musical talents on the xylophone.

She read her Thanksgiving book and told me all about the turkey and pilgrims in her own language.

And instead of playing the drum she decided to wear it on her head. She was pushing her nose against the side and fogging it up with her breath. Such a silly girl!!

One her favorite things to do is kiss the pictures on the wall. First, she gives her picture a kiss and then she moves down the wall to Uncle Nick, Momma and Auntie Ellena. She does this about 3 times and then gets down to play.

Well, that's about all I have to post for now. Heading into the sewing room to be creative.

Creative Market, Nov 11 & 12

Friday and Saturday were busy with the craft festival that I did with Ginger. We set up on Thursday evening. The ladies of the church, where the show was being held, had made stew and cornbread for anyone that wanted to eat after setting up. Well, of course, Ginger and I couldn't pass up stew and cornbread. It was sure good and we found out later it was just a sampling of what they would have the next two days.


First day

Our friend, Sandra, came out to help us at the festival. Thursday turned out to be kind of a slow day, but we enjoyed each others company and getting to sit and visit. I think Sandra did get some of her Christmas shopping done throughout the day. Now, back to the food. On Friday, I arrived about 8am to do some finishing on the booth. Jeff brought me since I was leaving at 5pm to attend the induction ceremony into the Alpha Pi Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for our daughter, Ashlee. Breakfast was homemade biscuits and sausage gravy or homemade cinnamon rolls. We settled on the biscuits and gravy since the cinnamon rolls were not finished baking yet, but they sure did smell good. Lunch was Indian tacos and three kinds of homemade pies..coconut, chocolate and pecan. We were so full from the tacos, there was no room for pie just yet. I did get a piece of coconut to go the share with Jeff later in the evening. About 2pm, Ginger went to get some tea and they had just finished making fried pies. Well, couldn't pass those up..they were still hot. Apricot or lemon...I got apricot..my favorite. They were DEEELICIOUS!!!!!! So we all left that evening definitely full, in fact, almost miserable because none of us usually eat that much food in one day.

Our daughter, Ashlee,decided last fall to go back to school to become a registered dietician. We are so very proud of her as she is also raising our beautiful granddaughter, Emma. She has worked very hard this past year and was accepted into the program starting in January. She has maintained a 3.8 GPA and was inducted into the Alpha Pi Nu Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society on Friday evening. Jeff, me and Emma attended the ceremony.

Saturday was quite a bit busier and the day went by pretty fast. Ginger and I, however, did not eat as much food on Saturday. We were still full from Friday((-: We had a great time at the craft festival and hope to do it again next year.

Rughooking Day!!

Yes, today was our monthly rughooking get-together at Country Collections in Moore, OK. We meet the second Tuesday of every month to work on hooked rugs, stitcheries, wool appliques, or just whatever we feel like doing.

We did have another earthquake last night around 8:30pm but so far none today. It measured a 4.7 but didn't seem to last as long as the other two. Hope all this shaking slows down soon.

Was that the house shaking?

Well, I never thought about being in an earthquake and surely, never thought one would happen in Oklahoma. But early Saturday morning, around 2:15am, I experienced one. I have a craft show this weekend, Nov 11 and 12, so I was finishing up some projects when it happened. It sounded like the wind had started blowing really, really hard. The roof was creaking and then the windows started rattling. The dishes in the cabinet were rattling when I went to see what was happening outside. I thought a storm was coming. Didn't last very long and when I tried to wake up Jeff, he just rolled over. Told him I thought we had just had an earthquake. He looked up and said ok and went back to sleep. Had the TV on, but nothing on about it. Such a spooky feeling, I couldn't go to sleep so stayed up until about 4am. Did get a lot done, though ((-:

Saturday night about 11pm it happened again, only this time I knew what it was. When it started Jeff looked at me with a puzzled look. I told him it was another earthquake. This one lasted longer than the first one. Anyway, it was a scary feeling to feel the house shake and things rattle and move.

Today, we have been under a tornado watch. There was some tornadoes in southwest Oklahoma this afternoon that did damage some homes and businesses. Didn't hear about any injuries so hopefully everyone was in their hidey holes during the storms. Never know what might happen here in Oklahoma.

Today was my day off from work and I spent it with Ashlee and Emma. We went shopping for a birthday present for my great nephew, Eli, who is turning one. Emma enjoyed looking at all the toys and pushing the buttons on the ones that made noise. We came home with a toy camera that teaches counting and says "Cheese" when you push the button. Also bought him a couple of warm outfits for the winter.

So plans for this weekend are to celebrate Eli's first birthday on Saturday. The rest of the weekend is getting stuff ready for a craft show next Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12. My friend, Ginger, and I signed up to do this craft show during the summer, but I seem to always wait until the last minute to get things done. Guess I work better when facing a deadline.

The weather here in Oklahoma City turned cold on Wednesday. We had our first freeze in Oklahoma City last night so it's about time for those winter coats to come out of the closet. Emma arrived at the house with her new winter coat. She found these Halloween glasses and had to try them on. Such a funny little girl!!!

Last Week's Travels

Well, I really mean to post more often than I do, but it just doesn't seem to happen. So here is what I have been doing this past week or so.

Jeffrey had a business meeting in McAlester, OK on Thursday morning, so I suggested we take a road trip and see the fall foliage between Talihina, OK and Mena, AR. So we headed out Thursday morning for another road trip. It started raining as soon as we hit the highway and rained the whole way to McAlester. We ate at the Whistlestop Bistro in the old part of McAlester. Delicious sandwiches and soup are served there. Across the street was an antique store and I just had to make a quick walk thru it. I came out with a 2-ft paper mache St. Nick and a box full of old quilt blocks for $10. We headed down the road to Talihina with the rain. I think the rain clouds were following us, but I guess it was ok 'cause we surely need the rain.

As we drove into Talihina, I saw a sign for an old fashion soda fountain and suggested we stop and check it out.

After a plate of french fries, a hot fudge sundae and a raspberry flavored soda float, we headed back to the car. It was 4:30 and still raining so we decided to stay in Talihina for the night. The drive thru the mountains would be better seen with the sun shining and the weather man said the rain would be gone on Friday.


Hootie Creek House Bed & Breakfast

I had also noticed a sign for a bed and breakfast as we were driving, so we decided that we would find it and see if they had a room available. It was just around the corner from the soda fountain. Hootie Creek House Bed & Breakfast is an old hotel building that was purchased by Essex and Carolyn Webb. She did have a room available, so we checked in and decided we would let our ice cream settle before thinking about supper. About 7:30pm we decided to find somewhere to eat for supper. This being a small town we were hoping something would be open late. Carolyn recommended a place called "Pam's Hateful Hussy" that stayed open until 9pm.

A strange name for an eating establishment but not much else to choose from. I had chicken fried steak, salad, and baked potato. Jeffrey saw fried chicken livers on the menu and just had to have them. The food was delicious! We left stuffed and ready to retire for the evening.

Carolyn had the place decorated for Halloween and I couldn't resist taking some pictures.

Got up the next morning to a wonderful breakfast prepared by Carolyn. Essex gave us a tour of the rest of the building that they were working on. It was a wonderful place to stay and I would recommend it highly. We left around 10am to start our drive across the Ouachita Mountains.The sun was shining and it was going to be a beautiful drive. We drove thru clouds as we got higher up into the mountains. The trees had started changing colors, but I think there will be more color in the next few weeks.

It was a nice, relaxing drive, and we were glad we waited until Friday. There was not much traffic and so we took our time and stopped at several of the turnouts to look out across the valleys. We arrived in Mena, AR about 2pm. We checked out a couple of antique stores. I found an old fruit box, an old crock, and an old cabinet door panel. We headed back to Oklahoma on a different highway which turned out to be just as scenic. We arrived back in Talihina about 5:30pm and ate at Pam's again. This time we had old-fashioned hamburgers and the best homemade coconut pie I have had in a long time. So this was another get-away road trip we took in October.

Play Day at Last!

After three weeks of day and night tax work, we finally hit the road for a day of fun and relaxation. Now you may not think that driving is relaxing but Jeffrey does. So after my dental appointment this morning, we headed south for some places to visit. We had driven by them on previous trips but did not have time to stop and check them out.

First stop was in Noble at an antique shop called Ripleys. We didn't stay too long there as there was not much that interested me. I did buy a tall basket to hold some hooked rugs and a small doll trunk.

Next stop was Deanna's Architectural Salvage in Ada. Just let me say I didn't even make a dent in this place. Inside alone there is probably 10,000 square feet of 'stuff' to look out. We started looking outside first and still didn't even see all that was outside.

After all that shopping, we headed to Davis OK for some BBQ at Smokin Joes. Some friends had told us about this place. Said it was really good BBQ. We got there about 3:15 and they were out of ribs and chicken, but said they would have some ready by 4. So we decided to wait. Since we were starving we split a chopped beef sandwich with french fries. It was very good and we should have stopped there, but we had already ordered ribs and chicken to eat when it was ready at 4. Well out came the ribs and chicken and we did eat a small amount but most of it came home with us. There is lunch and dinner for the next couple of days ((-:

Before heading back to Oklahoma City, we stopped at a garden center that had white pumpkins. Every year I buy white pumpkins and this year I could not find any in the city. Found a neat striped looking pumpkin too.

Thought I would show you what I did at Happy Trails Rug Camp. I have done oxford punch before with Frank so I worked on stuff in the evening after camp was over. I did some of the small ornaments he had given us patterns for. I need to put antlers on the reindeer and a squiggly vine on the pumpkin. Then hangers on them to use them as ornaments. Super quick to punch and plan on doing more for Christmas tags on presents.

And a first for me: My sister-in-law, Danna, is a very talented quilter and decided last year to enter a couple of her quilts in the Oklahoma State Fair for the first time. She won ribbons on them and was so excited that this year she entered again. Well, she talked me into entering a hooked rug. You don't know if you won anything until you go to the fair and look for them in the displays. So on the opening day of the fair we went that evening and started looking for our entries. Well, Jeff was the first to spot mine and guess what...I got a blue ribbon..I was so excited!! So I guess I could say that is one thing off my bucket list...enter something in the State Fair.

And now for the finale....Emma. She is growing up so fast. She turned 15 months on October 13. Since I have been working more, I don't get to see her quite as often, usually a couple of times during the week and sometimes on Saturday. So enjoy the pictures! She is truly one special litte girl to her Nanna and Poppy.

Well that is how my last 3 weeks have been. Busy at work, but still able to enjoy other things as well. This weekend is supposed to be really nice so hoping to get some yard work done. Wishing everyone a great weekend and do something fun.

As you can see from the picture above, the ladies were busy punching and just having a great time.

We spent three days with Frank Bielec instructing and entertaining us. He kept us in stitches with his stories and jokes. He is such fun to be around and I think everyone enjoyed their time spent with him.

This is Kay and Laura from our group of rughookers here in Oklahoma. They both do beautiful hooked rugs and decided to expand to oxford punch. Well, needless to say, they caught on quick.

Kay was the first one to finish punching her project.

Becky is also one of our Oklahoma rughookers.

Ginger's mother-in-law, Pat, decided to join us.

She had never punched before, but as you can tell, she did a beautiful job on her Snow Lady.

As a bonus to rug camp, Frank drew each person a pattern on monks cloth or linen. Carol, another Oklahoma rughooker, is watching Frank draw her pattern.

To the right of Kala and Ashley are some of the things Frank has created. He is a very talented artist and his whimisical paintings are very unique. I bought two(will show them another time).

Camp ended on Saturday about 4pm. We had spent three days of laughter and fun and now had to head back home. Everyone got their stuff together, packed their cars and said their good-byes.

So another great time spent with friends and new friends!!!

Happy Trails Rug Camp!!!!

Well the day has finally arrived and we are anxiously awaiting for our rug campers to arrive!!!

I arrived at Ginger's to finish setting up. Of course, she had already done a lot of it. She has outdone herself. Her gathering room is simply gorgeous. Words can't describe it!! A perfect place to have a gathering of any kind.

Weekend happenings!

This past weekend was perfect fall weather for me! Saturday I spent watching college football games and binding a couple of rugs. Sunday I spent outdoors doing some yard work and bringing out fall decorations. I was going to post on Sunday night, but got busy getting things together for our upcoming "Happy Trails Rug Camp" at Ginger's house beginning Thursday, September 29.
So here is what I have been doing this past week.

I enjoy hooking rugs but always put off binding them. Not my favorite thing to do. However, I learned a new method of binding and so I don't mind it so much anymore. These two rugs have been hooked for awhile so glad to finally have them finished. The first rug was drawn by Ginger. Ginger, Sandra and I were going to do a rug every 3 months and Ginger was going to design them. I think Ginger designed 2 or 3 but this is the only one I have done.

I have also started doing some cross stitch. I have not stitched on linen before and my friend, Betty, of Primitive Bettys gave me some help in getting started. The pattern is designed by Betty.

Fall is my most favorite time of the year and so I had to get some fall decorations out to start enjoying it.

And of course, I had Emma for a couple of times during the week and we spent time playing.

Truman Lake Rug Show and Hook In

Last weekend Ginger and I took a road trip to Warsaw, Missouri to a hook-in sponsored by Saltbox Primitive Woolens. It was their first hook-in and I do believe it was a huge success!!!!! Ginger and I definitely helped their economy.

We left Friday morning and made a couple of stops along the way. In Tulsa,OK we stopped at the Silver Needle. A wonderful needlework shop. We bought a few patterns. We ate lunch in Tulsa and got back on the road to our destination. Well almost, we had planned one more stop in Rogers, Arkansas. A nice little quilt and rughooking shop called The Rabbit's Lair. We browsed the shop, bought some fabric and patterns and then headed north to Warsaw. Well, we did see a Braum's ice cream store as we were coming into town so we HAD to go back and have ice cream before we hit the road!!! To save time, we went thru the drive-thru and then again headed north to Warsaw.

We arrived in Warsaw about 6pm, found our lodging for the night and then went to locate the Community Center where the hook-in was going to be on Saturday. It faces the Truman Lake and was a perfect spot for a hook-in. Wanted to make sure we could find it easily the next day and not waste anytime ((-: We found it, decided where we would be parking the next day and then went to supper at the Rusty Skillet, a little cafe on Main Street.

When we arrived back at our lodging for the night, no parking places to be found close to our room. There were trucks with boats behind them everywhere. Men walking all around with tackle boxes, etc. To make a long story short, we decided this was the lodge for all the fishermen. Needless to say, we only saw one other lady. So we went to our room, barred the door and hoped it would be quiet. We did get a good night's sleep and woke up ready to go.

The hook-in was awesome!!!! Some great vendors were there: Wendy Miller of The Red Saltbox, Maggie Bonanomi with her new book, Anita White, Melissa Towne, Shawn Williams of Threads That Bind, Need'love, Vicki Hardcastle, and Primitive Stitches. That is all I can remember but I'm sure there were 2 or 3 more. Anyway we had a great time there and in the afternoon we went shopping around the town at antique stores. Headed home to OKC about 3pm and arrived safe and sound.

Well, I said I wasn't going to get behind on my blog posts, but alas, I did. My last post was around Easter time, so it has been awhile.

Summer was very, very busy and oh so hot!!!! Ashlee decided to take some classes in the summer, 12 hours to be exact, so Emma and I spent a lot of time together. It was great, although we spent a lot of time inside because of the heat. Oklahoma had 61 days of over 100 degree weather so being outside was not an option most of the summer. We are also experiencing a very dry summer. Very little rain has fallen and the lakes and ponds are really drying up. September has brought us cooler temperatures, but not a lot of rain yet. The fair starts on Thursday, September 15 and it usually rains during that time so maybe we will get some much needed rain.

I also had surgery on my right knee for 2 meniscus tears and some cartilage repair. I spent 8 weeks in physical therapy and am doing better, but still working on getting more range of motion and flexibility.

My Emma turned 1 on July 13. I can't believe a year has past since she was born. . She started walking at 10 months and has not slowed down since. I see her 3-4 times a week and she is growing so fast even now. She repeats words you say to her and even makes up some of her own. Here are some pictures of her I took this summer.

Happy Easter!!

It is Sunday evening and I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday with family and friends. We spent the day the Ashlee, Dominic, Emma and my Mom.

I made brunch food - a fresh asparagus quiche, broccoli quiche, bacon, fruit salad, and of course, biscuits and gravy. Mom brought some lemon-pumpkin muffins that were delicious. Ashlee made sugar cookies with pastel M&M's. Needless to say, we did not leave the table hungry.

In true Oklahoma tradition, when you want the weather to be nice so the children can enjoy Easter egg hunts and such, it rains! Of course, no complaints from me, because we so needed the rain. It lasted most of the day. At times it was nice and slow and then it would start pouring, but any kind of rain was more than welcome here.

So Emma's Easter egg hunt was in the living room floor. She had a great time and enjoyed biting each thing she pulled out of her basket.

Nick spent the Easter holidays in San Juan, Puerto Rico with Ellena, Alex and the boys. Friday and Saturday spent at the pool and the beach. Today went to a Easter Brunch at the Caribe Hilton. The picture he posted on FB of the desserts he ate sure made me want some.

Tax season was officially over on April 18, so last week I did some "me" things. I finished hooking a rug for Emma for Easter. Also finished the hooking part of the "House Blessings 2010" rug from Laurie of LJ Fibers. I am really pleased with the way it turned out. Still need to bind it though. That is my least favorite part of rughooking.

Moving Day...Thrifty finds...Emma

Happy Sunday afternoon!!! It is sunny and windy with a temperature of 90 degrees. Wow!!! Tomorrow is supposed to be cold again. Supposed to be 37 in the morning. This weather just can't seem to make up its mind.

Last week was busy and this week promises much of the same. Headed to the office later this evening to work so thought I might try to update my blog this afternoon.

Ginger and I spent all day Saturday moving our booth at the antique mall to the front window. It is about 2 1/2 feet larger with more light and more customer exposure. We must have had more stuff in our original space than we thought, 'cause just when it seemed we were done, more would appear. Danny, Ginger's hubby, helped us move the big stuff and set it back up in our new spot.

He helped hang our new sign, too. Of course, he had to hang it twice 'cause I thought I could just stitch the letters on the quilt piece with it hanging. Not so...it was hard to do standing on a ladder that did not seem very sturdy... so I gave in. He took it down..Ginger and I stitched the letters on and he hung it back up.

He is such a good guy. He spent all day with us arranging and rearranging. He even bought us lunch and then came back in the afternoon for more moving. We finally finished at 6:30. Here are pictures of our new booth. We really, really like our new space!!!!!!!

Last Wednesday I took my Mom to the airport and before heading back to work I went to the thrift store close to the office. Here are some cool things I found. Only one thing was over a dollar. Some of my treasures will be used in the fall, but I couldn't pass them up for 99 cents or less.

I also received a package in the mail last week from Joanne . She had read in one of my blog posts about looking for army blankets. She sent me a green wool army blanket, a large blue wool piece, popcorn and the some granola thins with dark chocolate. Well, I ate one package of the granola thins immediately. It was so good. She said she got them at Costco, but no Costco here so will have to look elsewhere. It was such a pleasant surprise. She and the other women in our group, An American Primitive Gathering, are always sending RAKs. (Random Acts of Kindness). It always brings a smile knowing someone was thinking of you.

As you know, I also take care of Emma during the week. She is 8 months old and quite a handful. She is crawling everywhere and pulls up to stand wherever she can. She has been practicing her balance, so before long she will probably be taking that first step. Then the fun begins. She is hard keeping up with now while crawling. Imagine I will need to put my running shoes on from then on. She dislikes being put in her car seat to go somewhere, but insists on it being on the floor to play in.

She does fall asleep in it occasionally, but usually only about 10 minutes.

She is trying new foods now too. She will munch on raw broccoli and carrots. Bananas and apples. I was eating a mandarin orange and she wanted a bite. She managed to break the skin and get a little of the pulp.

I did finally finish a hooked rug that I started at the Star of Texas Rug Camp in Tyler, Texas last May. "Old Thyme House" is a pattern from Star Rug Company. Maria Barton was the teacher and I learned some new techniques and had a great time. I'm not able to go this May, but hope to go next year. I have not put the binding on it yet, but at least the main rug is finished.

I also finished a cross stitch freebie from Betty of Primitive Bettys. I had never cross stitched over 2 threads, so when I went to the Lenexa hook-in in February, Betty was kind enough to give me a lesson. I will have to practice more because I am sure I missed one or two on this, but I still like the way it turned out. I stained it with walnut ink crystals and put it in a frame I found at the thrift store for 49 cents. It came with its own little easel.

I am working on a rug for Emma for Easter, It's the Peter Rabbit rug that Ginger hooked and showed on her blog awhile back.

Well guess I better finish this up and do a little housework. Wishing everyone a great week and hope the spring weather is just around the corner.

More Treasures

Working late tonight at the office with Jeff and waiting for him to finish so decided to do a quick posting. Won't have any pictures because I don't have my camera with me.

On Wednesday, I spent a wonderful day with Ginger and Sandra. We met at Country Collections. Ginger did a little shopping while she was there. We left around noon and had lunch at Del Rancho...the home of the Steak Sandwich Supreme. We each ordered one and ate the whole thing, but we didn't order french fries.

We went to an Army surplus store looking for army blankets. They had some but they were gray and really, really thick. Not what we were looking for so we left and headed for the thrift stores.

First store, I found some pictures frames. Sandra bought a red wool skirt and I can't remember what Ginger bought.

The second store I found three wood croquet balls, a wall basket, couple more picture frames, some children's books, and a twin bed headboard. Ginger found some picture frames, baskets, blue glass bottles, books, and a headboard. We are going to make signs with the headboards.

So that was our fun Wednesday. I had to head home around 4pm to take care of Emma while Ashlee went to her evening class.

Will try to post pictures in a day or two. Guess I better get back to work...

Another rug from Lenexa

Yay....It's Friday and I don't have to work. Jeff had to go to a meeting in Austin, TX today so no reason for me to go to the office. I took him to the airport this morning and will pick him up this evening. The day was all mine to do whatever I wanted. Even Emma had plans..she was spending the day with her Momma and Poppa. Ashlee's last day of spring break before classes resume next week.

My friend, Sandra, had go pick up her sewing machine at the Bernina store, so I went with her and we spent the rest of the day shopping. Our first stop was Savage Quilter quilt shop. I bought fabric to make Emma a pair of bloomer pants. Sandra bought a quilt book...Table Toppers by Fons & Porter. We also went to Joann's. I bought the flower basket for Ashlee and the blue fat quarters for March theme for AAPG.

We stopped at several thrift stores and I did manage to find some things I couldn't live without. First find were some old wooden oval frames. I am going to use one of them for a Halloween witch wool applique. Can't remember the designer but will let you know when I make it.

Sandra stopped at Horn's Seeds to buy onion sets, black-eyed peas, tomato plants, and pepper plants. I am so ready for spring. I hope to have a garden this year, but haven't really started working the area where I want it. With tax season, not too much gets done until after April 15. I did buy a grapevine ivy for my office though. Need some green and clean air there while I am working. We stopped for lunch at Jason's Deli before heading down the street to the next thrift store.

At the Goodwill store I found a green metal box that will be good to put a punch needle on top.

At the next store I found several pictures frames with glass. I use them to frame stitcheries and wool appliques. Prices range from 49 cents to $1.98 being the most expensive. Good prices for frames with glass. Some small tin loaf pans for pincushions and an small old muffin tin. The feather tree was 99 cents.

At another thrift store I found an old wooden painting easel. Thought Ginger and I could use it in our booth to display things on. Not sure what to do with the white wooden stool, but it was only $1.48

The box of lace up blocks will be for Emma when she is a little older. Didn't appear that it had ever been used...99 cents!!!!

This purse had beads missing, but still lots were on it. My sister-in-law, Danna, does beadwork and is working on a crazy quilt for her sister. I thought she might be able to use some of them.

Well, I think that is all of my found treasures. Sandra only found a small whisk to use to mix up her dyes when she dyes wool. She said she really didn't need anymore junk. We missed having Ginger with us, but plan on doing this again soon and hoping Ginger can come.

Of course, I have to post pictures of Emma. She was my little leprechaun yesterday all dressed in her green top and shamrock pants.

Been gone too long...life just gets so busy!!

Well it has been three months since I have posted on my blog. I hope to get back to blogging on a more regular basis, but time will tell.

I had a wonderful Christmas holiday with family. Nick was home for 3 weeks and we all had a great time together. He got to spend lots of time with his niece, Emma.

January arrived and tax season began. Ashlee (daughter) has been working with us for the last 3 years and has decided to go back to school to become a dietician. I told Jeffrey I could work in her place (what was I thinking, I am supposed to be retired) but really I don't mind. He is pretty good about letting me off when I want. I still go to rughooking once a month and even get to go thrift store shopping with Ginger and Sandra. Just not as much computer time as I used to have though to blog and talk with my ebay group.

February came and I went to Lenexa, KS for the Rock Creek Hook-in with Ginger and Sandra. We left on Thursday, Feb 24 and came back on Sunday. We stopped in Americus, KS to see Betty's new studio. It is awesome!!!! If I can find the pictures Sandra sent me I will post some. Betty did a great job painting and decorating. A nice cozy place to spend the day stitching and rughooking.

The hook-in was great. We saw JoJo and met Chelle, both members of AAPG(an ebay group I belong to). Lots of vendors and great wool and rughooking patterns to be had. I said I didn't need any more wool or patterns, but there were a few pieces of wool and patterns that called my name so I just had to buy them....(( - :

Already the middle of March and I am wondering where the last two months went. Nick was home for spring break and just went back to DC last Wednesday. Had a nice visit and even the weather wasn't too bad. He got to get in a motorcycle ride while he was here. Emma had a great time with her uncle. He was amazed at how much she had changed since Christmas.

I share an antique booth space with Ginger and so my time for creating is usually late at night and on the weekends. After April 15, maybe things will slow down a little.

I keep Emma (granddaughter) during the week, too. She is 8 months old and has been crawling everywhere and already trying to walk. I told her she just needed to wait a couple more months for that milestone, but I don't think she is listening to me. She and I spend time at the office together while Ashlee is in school.

Surprise Monday!!!

Well, what a good Monday I had! Doctor's appointment went well. I worked at the office until Emma arrived at 4pm. She and I went home and played 'til around 6pm when Ashlee came back by to take her for a "play date".

After she left, I went to get the mail and had two boxes addressed to me. I had to wait to open them until I had fixed supper and cleaned up the kitchen. Afterwards, I retreated to my sewing room where the packages were waiting for me.

The first one was a wonderful box full of goodies from Bobbie who had my name for our Christmas swap on AAPG group on eBay. She did some beautiful crossstitch on linen...a journal cover and Santa and his reindeer. Two great pieces of blue wool. The sheep designed by Deirdre was needlepunched and put on a small plaque, which I already have hanging on my sewing room door. Also two beeswax sheep ornaments covered with cinnamon and some small ornaments she had used to tie on the packages. These will hang on the small tree I put on the kitchen counter. She also sent some DMC floss and hand-dyed linen. I have never stitched on 28 count linen, but am going to try it out.

You can see that I received some beautiful gifts from one very talented lady. Thank you so much, Bobbie. You brought a big smile to my face.

Well, the second box was from Kelley, also on AAPG group. I could not think why she was sending me a box. I opened it and it was stuffed to the brim with wool, patterns, cotton velvet, a strawberry pinkeep, a scissor/needlecase, a notebook, and an ABC pin. The card she sent said it was for a swap we did in June. Life this summer had been so hectic I forgot that I had participated. But it was sure a nice surprise. Kelley, I am thrilled with all of my goodies. You sure know how to spoil a person. Thanks so much!

Sunday Funday!!

An article in our newspaper last week sounded like a good place to visit on a Sunday, so Jeff and I headed to Lindsay, OK to the "Christmas Extravaganza" at the Murray-Lindsay Mansion. The mansion was built in 1879 by one of Lindsay's early pioneers, Irish immigrant, Frank Murray. It has been restored over the years and tours are offered in December to help defray the costs.

We arrived and I decided this would be a great house to live in. It is three stories with a porch on the first floor and second floor. Each room on the first floor has a mantel that was decorated in different themes.

The kitchen seemed small compared to the rest of the house. Not too much storage space.

We headed to the second floor where the bedrooms and the only bathroom in the house is located. The bathroom was added in the 1900's.

Each bedroom had a decorated Christmas tree. Two of the bedrooms had closets that were added the same time as the bathroom. However, no closet was added to the master bedroom. A clothes wardrobe was used instead.

This large room was at the front of the house on the third floor and I envisioned a wonderful sewing/rughooking studio. There were three smaller rooms on this floor also.

The back of the house had a small porch off the kitchen. There was also a basement that was not included in the tour.

I could see myself living in this house.

Across the road was the Pike's Peak Schoolhouse. We walked over there to check out the craft show. I bought a couple of handmade Christmas ornaments.

What a great time we had at the Murray-Lindsay Mansion. We headed back to Oklahoma City, taking the scenic route, of course. Beautiful day for driving.

We went thru Chickasha, OK where the only Dairy Queen is located that is close to Oklahoma City.

So, guess what????? I told Jeff we just had to stop and have a dipped cone. YumYum...Ginger...I only got a small one, but I did enjoy it. Ginger, we will have to make a field trip soon so you can enjoy a dipped cone too for your birthday.

Well time to close. Have my yearly doctor's appointment tomorrow so guess I better get some rest.

Ok, so I haven't posted since Nov 10. As usual, life gets busy and some things you just have to put aside. It is almost 1am and since I don't have to work tomorrow I decided to stay up late and check my emails, blogs and facebook.

I had a great Thanksgiving. Nick came home from Washington DC and spent Thanksgiving with us. My brother, Mike and family, from Cary, North Carolina were also here. Had Thanksgiving dinner at my Mom's house with lots of family and friends. It was a great day and, of course, we all ate way too much.

I got a stomach flu on Sunday so I have spent a few days on the mend. I did start feeling better on Wednesday.

Thursday, I met Ginger at the antique mall in Purcell and we reorganized our booth. Someone bought one of the tables we had stuff on, so we had to get another table and redecorate. Put some Christmas things in and it is looking good.

Jeff, me and Emma went to the Christmas parade in Purcell, Thursday evening. The weather was great...not too cold. Emma fell asleep on the way to Purcell and actually stayed asleep until after the parade was over. She woke up in time to entertain us at a local Mexican food restaurant where we ate with Ginger, Danny and Jenn. To see pictures go to Ginger's blog, Primitives by the Light of the Moon. I took pictures, but haven't downloaded them. So you can enjoy the parade thru Ginger.

Even though, I don't have any other pictures to post right now, I always have pictures of Emma. She is 4 1/2 months old now and getting so big. I take care of her during the week, so that is why I don't always get other things done. But I am not complaining. She is such a joy to have around and we have a great time together.

Today, I think I might do a little Christmas shopping in the afternoon. I have done some ordering online, but there are a couple of stores I want to visit. Our weather is going to be in the 60's, but Saturday the weatherman is calling for temperatures to drop down in the 20's. Oh well, this is Oklahoma..the weather changes in the blink of an eye.

So guess I better think about heading to bed soon. No other pictures downloaded, so hopefully next time I will have some.

Rughooking Day!

Today was our monthly rughooking get-together at Country Collections, but Ginger, Sandra and I didn't show up until 3pm. We went on an adventure to Pink, OK to Victorian Roses Trading Post.

The day started out at Auntie Mae's antique store where Ginger and I have a
booth.

I picked up Sandra and headed to Purcell. We stocked our booth with more stuff

and then headed to lunch at Bravo's Mexican Grille in Purcell. Ginger and I had planned on going to Pink, OK on Saturday, but since Sandra was with us, the decision was made to check it out before going to rughooking.

After driving about 20 minutes east we arrived at our destination.

We all jumped out of the car and just stood in awe of the outside.

So much to look at and when we went inside we were like kids in a candy store. So many neat things to look at. I bought two shelves for our antique booth, an old brown bottle and an old wooden box. Of course, we went in my car(Honda Accord)so going back in a bigger vehicle on Saturday to get the shelves. Who knows, may come home with even more.

We got to rughooking and told the ladies about our road trip. I did get some loops pulled on a rug I have been working on way too long. I hope to finish it in the next few weeks.

And of course, the post wouldn't be complete without some pics of Emma. I took this last week. She is enjoying the book Jo Leland gave her. She is 4 months old now and getting more active. She keeps me busy when she comes to visit.

Well that was my day. I had a great time with good friends and we did a lot of laughing, which is good for our souls. Looking forward to another day of road trips and fun.

November already, where has the year gone!!!

Well it is the 3rd of November and before you know it Thanksgiving will be here. I just love this time of the year. The fall weather here in Oklahoma has been perfect. The leaves are starting to turn and the evenings are getting cooler.

I still haven't done any rughooking. I did finish two wool applique mats for the new venture I am doing with my friend, Ginger. We are renting space in Auntie Mae's Antiques, one of the antique malls in Purcell, OK. We spent Tuesday setting up our display, arranging and rearranging our "stuff". I forgot my camera but Ginger took some pictures. We still have some more things to do to it, but it is looking great so far.

I didn't get any Halloween pics posted this past weekend of Emma so here are some taken on Saturday. Ashlee had a frufru pumpkin costume made for Emma and had a friend's Mom meet her at the park on Saturday to take pics. Emma did OK for a little while but I think the costume was too much for her. So enjoy! Next year she will be walking and enjoying trick or treat time, I'm sure.

Trying a recipe I found online to cook chicken and dumplings in the slow cooker. Guess it's about time to check and see if they came out OK. Well let you know the verdict.

Productive Weekend!!!

Well, this weekend was me time. Jeff was busy working at the shop, rearranging things, and Emma was spending time with her other Grandma and Grandpa. I did my errands early Saturday morning and got home just before the wind and rain hit. I spent the afternoon watching football and sewing, hooking and finishing up some things. So sit back and take a look at all I got done. I was so happy!!!!!

I am doing a Saturday Sampler BOM with the quilt shop in Hennessey, OK, Prairie Quilt. I had picked the Aunt Gracie fabrics but then liked the Civil War fabrics also, so am doing both. What was I thinking??? I haven't been since July so I am behind. I hope to go to the shop this week and get my packets and get caught up.

This is my House Blessing 2010 Rug Project from LJ Fibers. I am also behind on it but hope to get caught up in the next couple of weeks.

Guess you can tell that I really like this book. There are lots of great patterns in it and still have more to do.

This posting would not be complete without some pictures of Emma. I do get to spend a lot of time with her. Every day during the week and usually one day of the weekend. She turned 3 months old on October 13 and Ashlee had some pictures made. This was one of my favorites.

This is her farm girl look. My friend, Ginger, Primitives by the Light of the Moon, gave her the denim jumper. I think the Mary Jane socks finish the outfit.

Today, Jeff and I went for a Sunday drive. Very nice and relaxing. Some color changing of the leaves. We still have not had our first frost. It was a nice way to spend some of the day.

Hope everyone is enjoying Saturday. It is a little warm here but still nice enough to be outside. I did work in the yard earlier today after running errands which included a stop at a thrift shop. Found some neat stuff. Also bought my pumpkins,pansies, and mums.

Will work in the yard tomorrow and get it spruced up for fall. Just love this time of year!!!!!!!

More about camp!!!!!

Well, camp ended on Thursday afternoon. We packed all our stuff into the car and still had room to spare. Believe it or not, we didn't buy too much wool.

We said our good-byes to Frank and everyone in class and headed north around 2pm.

We let Harriett(Ginger's GPS unit)pick our route so we didn't have to drive thru Austin, Waco and Dallas traffic. Harriett took us on the scenic route and we saw lots of great countryside. We went thru a couple of towns we decided we would have to go back and visit. We made a stop at Dairy Queen for our last dipped cone since Oklahoma does not have Dairy Queens anymore. Danny picked up Ginger at the Paoli exit and I headed on to Oklahoma City, arriving home around 11pm.

Ok, so for the rest of our time at camp.

Class was from 8:30am to 3:30pm each day. After the evening program most of us would go back to the classroom and work on various things until 11:30pm or so. Frank was always there, too. Ginger and I would then go to our room and stay up until 1:30am and work on things. One night we stayed up until 2:30am. We just couldn't go right to sleep after all the creativity and fun we would have with the other ladies and Frank.

Tuesday: Before class, Ginger and I walked to the coffee house to place an order for the Morning Glory muffins she had to take back to Oklahoma. On the way we spotted at house that said "PIE". We decided we would come back after class was over to check it out.

We went inside and the smell of pies was wonderful. There were three rooms with tables to sit at and eat your pie. We looked at the quilts, signs, samplers and other treasures to purchase before having pie. Now for the decision of what kind of pie....I got a slice of coconut cream pie to eat there AND a slice of cherry pie to go for later. Ginger had a slice of coconut cream AND a slice of pecan pie to go. We decided that would be our breakfast the next day. After pie, we went walking around downtown some more and found a few more treasures we couldn't live without.

Tuesday night, one of the teachers, Karen Kahle, did a trunk show of her rugs. Here are some pictures of the rugs. They were simply beautiful in person, but hope you can see them and imagine how wonderful they were. I love the colors she uses in her rugs. It makes the rugs look very old and antique.

Wednesday: Most of the day was spent working on our class projects. Ginger and I finished our tote boxes, sewing book, jar lid and flower pin.

Ginger drew out some pumpkins, snowman, dog, sheep and punched them to make pins and more sewing books. You know, she is very fast and had several things finished by the end of camp.

Frank did a trunk show on Wednesday night, but I don't have pictures. I was helping take orders for some of his patterns. He is a great speaker and had everyone in stitches from his jokes. He showcased each student's projects and had something to tell about each one. One of the ladies in class decided we all should wear wax lips to the show. Some of us had red lips and some of us had vampire teeth.

Thursday: Our last day of camp. Some ladies worked on finishing their tote boxes while others punched more covers for sewing books, pins and such. Here is what Ginger did:

Frank also drew pictures for anyone that wanted one. He drew me a cat with Emma's name on the side. I plan on hooking it and putting it in her room.

We also celebrated Frank's birthday. He will be 69 years young today(Friday).

The dolls were made by most of the ladies in class. Frank had drawn a small doll pattern on Monday. So Monday night/Tuesday morning(1:00am) we decided to make one. When we brought them to class on Tuesday, everyone wanted to make one. At the trunk show on Wednesday, Frank showed them and he had a little story for each one. So late Wednesday night, Kala(fellow student)suggested we make a garland of the small dolls to give Frank for his birthday. When the garland was presented to him, he was overwhelmed.

This was one of the most fulfilling and rewarding classes I have ever taken. Frank is such a giving person and he was always telling us ways to do things. I came away from his class with so many new ideas and ways of doing things.

On our way home, Thursday afternoon, he even called to check to see how we were doing. This morning (Friday) he called about 10:30am to make sure we made it home OK. Said he had several students that left on Thursday and were driving at night and wanted to be sure they got home. I just can't say enough of how much fun I had this week. It is a class I will not soon forget.

Well, tomorrow I will post pictures of rugs from the rug show. There were some beautiful rugs brought by the students from all the classes. So until tomorrow, have a good evening.

Time flew by!!!!

Well, it is Thursday and we will be heading home this afternoon. It has been a fun-filled week and we have been very busy punching and hooking and sewing. We have stayed up into the wee hours of the morning working on our projects.

Frank did a trunk show last night for the camp and it was awesome! We have had a wonderful time and can't believe it is time to head home already.

I'm not posting pictures right now. We are packing and have to go get muffins for Ginger to take home. Will post more this weekend so be sure and check back.

The fun has begun!!!!!

Well our first day was wonderful. We started the day with breakfast and then headed to class.

Frank showed us what we would be doing..a flower, a sewing book, and jar lid. He gave us the cloth we would punch on and we started drawing our designs out.

Started on the flower and then progressed to the sewing book. Oxford punch is not as hard as I thought it would be. I finally got the hang of it by the afternoon.

We had a fun-filled day with lots of laughter and fun, but it did not end at 3:30pm.

We left to go to Walmart to get supplies to make a jar doll that Frank had shown us. We ate dinner at Dairy Queen..no dipped cones though. We had a small blizzard instead. We headed back to the hotel to get our stuff together and head back to the classroom for some evening fun. Frank was hooking on a rug project he had to finish by Friday. Ginger and I started on our dolls. They turned out so cute, very primitive and will post pictures tomorrow. We stained them with coffee, vanilla, and tan Rit dye. For now Gladys Alma and Harriett Louise are hanging in our closet upside down to dry. Now some of the other ladies want to dolls so when we left they had started their dolls.

Well, it is after 11pm and Ginger is too busy punching to update her blog so I will update mine. We have had a great Sunday. Our day started around 8:30am.

We found this little coffee shop and enjoyed green tea and fresh, out of the oven, blueberry and morning glory muffins. YumYum!!!! The morning was nice and cool so we sat on the porch with the cat.

We left there and went back to downtown Fredericksburg to check out the stores that we missed on Saturday. We visited a shop called "Dream On" that had old fashioned embroidery patterns on tea towels and pillow shams. Of course, we both bought a pattern or two. We walked around for another couple of hours and decided to get some lunch before checking in for rug camp. We ate at "Wheeler's Restaurant" which claimed to have the best burger in town. But we did not have a burger. I had the German plate..bratwurst, German potato salad, sauerkraut, and red cabbage. Ginger had homemade chicken and dumplings with a huge slice of cornbread. It was all good and we left feeling very full.

We stopped at the grocery store to get some things for lunch during the week and then headed to the hotel. We got our room keys and moved all our stuff from the car to the room. It took about 5 trips..lol. The luggage cart was in use and we didn't want to wait for it. We settled in and got our stuff unpacked and rested until time to meet our teacher.

Well, needless to say, this class is going to be the most fun ever!!!! Frank is a very interesting person and has so much enthusiasm for teaching. His rugs are awesome and after listening to him tell us about what we were going to do and learn, Ginger and I were ready to start right then.

Fredericksburg, Here We Come!!!!!!

Well, Saturday morning finally arrived and it was time to hit the road again. Woohoo......car is packed and ready to head out for the Star of Texas Rug Camp in Fredericksburg, TX. I left home around 5:30am to pick up Ginger at Wayne, OK for our long-awaited trip.

On the way we stopped at a festival called Trade Days of Fredericksburg. It said lots of antiques and primitives and crafts. It looked like a promising stop.

After walking thru five long, barns, we left with a few treasures, but the whole thing was quite a disappointment ) -:

In the first barn, I bought a wooden bobbin for $1.50 and a child's small quilt for $12. The quilt was an alphabet sampler and in good shape. Ginger bought a wooden masher, a small melting pot, and a baby bib.

The rest of the barns were mostly jewelry, clothes, and market stuff. Not what we were expecting from what we had read on the website. Oh well, live and learn.

We drove on into Fredericksburg and stopped at Stonehill Spinning. Really nice yarn and rughooking shop. Of course, we couldn't just look. I bought a couple of pieces of wool, some wool yarn for the class with Frank, and a piece of hand-dyed linen. Ginger bought a few things too.

We left there and ate Mexican food at a placed called Hilda's Tortillas. Drove back to downtown Fredericksburg and walked around for a couple of hours.

We found a Dairy Queen and had a medium dipped cone. It was good, but we both decided next time to get a small ( - :

We are checked into our room for the night and are planning what we will do tomorrow.

This is going to be a great week and lots of fun.

Thursday was Fair Day!!!

Thursday was the first day of the State Fair and it was Dollar Day. My sil, Danna, had entered her first quilt and so we headed out in the evening to see if she won a ribbon. Sure enough, she placed 5th in her category and she was on cloud nine. This was something she had always wanted to do and finally did it.

It was a great evening to be at the fair and we all had a great time together.

Rainy day, but no complaints from me!

What a great day to stay in the house and work on stuff. It has been raining most of the day and I love it!!!! I opened some windows to let the smell and coolness of the rain into the house.

Emma was here and she enjoyed most of the afternoon napping.

Her Mama came by after work and decided napping was a good idea also. Stormy even joined her.

Emma was here on Tuesday and she watched while I cooked supper.

After supper on Tuesday, Poppy took her for a walk on the treadmill.

This evening I worked on some wool pumpkins and a Halloween wallhanging.

I have some more wool appliques in progress and will show them on a later post.

Ginger and I are heading to the Star of Texas Rug Camp in Fredericksburg, TX on the 18th. I have started gathering supplies. We are taking an Oxford punchneedle class from Frank Bilec. He was on the show "Trading Spaces" on HGTV. I think it is going to be lots of fun.

Guess I better close think about heading to bed. I have been working at Jeff's office in the mornings and then taking care of Emma in the afternoons, so not staying up as late as usual. I make up for it on the weekends though.

Fun, Fun, Fun at the Loose Caboose Festival!!!!

Well this past Saturday was spent in Purcell, Oklahoma, the town where my friend, Ginger grew up. There is a festival the first weekend in September called "Loose Caboose Festival " and we decided to participate in it.

I picked up our friend, Sandra, around 7am and headed to Purcell which is about 40 minutes south of Oklahoma City. We arrived about the same time as Ginger. Ginger got our packet and we proceeded to set up our booth. I haven't done a craft festival in 3 years, so I was excited to be doing a show again. We got the Suburban unloaded, moved it out of the way and started setting up the tables and unloading plastic tubs. Here is the end result:

Ginger's husband, Danny, had a booth next to us. He owns DJ Trailers in Wayne, Oklahoma. A great way to advertise the business and enjoy visiting with people at the same time.

The day started out a little cool, which was a nice change from the heat. It did warm up in the afternoon and Sandra pulled out her umbrella to block the sun.

There are several antique stores along Main Street, so we took turns and did a little shopping. I found a cutter quilt that I couldn't pass up. We all came home with treasures.

And last of all, Ginger got her some new boots the night before the festival and I just had to take a picture of them. They are the cutest boots I have ever seen. The lower part is brown suede with pink at the top like cowboy boots, only they are shortie boots. Really, really neat looking and she said they were very comfortable. Might just have to get me a pair for the winter.

Emma spent this evening (Sunday) with me while her parents went out. We played for a while then I gave her a bath, put her nightgown on, fed her and here she is ready to go to sleep.

We rocked in the chair until she fell asleep and then I couldn't put her in the bed so I just held her until her Mama and Papa came to pick her up. Great times!!!!

The Last 3 weeks!!!!!

Who I have been spending most of my time with

Well, the last 3 weeks have been busy, busy. My last post was rughooking day. Lots of things happening since then.

Nick came home from Peru and spent 5 days before heading back to DC for his last year of school. He will graduate in May 2011. He became an Uncle while in Peru and so Emma was anxiously waiting to meet him.

Most of her time with him was sleeping, but when he is home at Thanksgiving, I am sure there will be lots of playtime.

My niece, Marissa, turned 18 while Nick was here and we celebrated her birthday at BJ's in Norman. We had a great evening visiting with family and friends.

For Father's Day, Jeff and I decided to get one of those easy set above ground pools. It took us about 3 weeks to get it set up, but we did finally get it operational and it has been very relaxing in the evenings. Nick decided to use it while he was here and thought Stormy might like to go for a swim.

A few days later we had another party. Don't you just love parties!!! Nick would be leaving for DC so had a cookout with family. Nick cooked the steaks and they were awesome. We ate way too much, as usual.

Of course, I take lots of pictures while she is with me..asleep, awake, crying, laughing, playing. She is so much fun!!!!

So that is where my time is being spent most days. Late in the evenings I have been trying to do some rughooking, quilting, or applique. I think if I didn't have to sleep I could get a lot more accomplished.

Middle of the week!

Well, it's Wednesday evening and still extremely warm outside. I am sure ready for some cooler weather. It was 100 degrees today. I think the rest of the week is supposed to be like today with a cool down to 90 degrees this weekend. Oh boy!!!!

Well, yesterday(Tuesday) was our monthly rughooking get together. We had a good turnout even with the heat. We had a good time visiting and rughooking.

Ginger got ran out of strips for the project she was working on, so she started stitching on some small pincushions she had designed. She is one, very talented lady.

And of course, I can't end this post without a some pics of Emma. She and her Mama came over Monday night and we played on her tummy mat. She turned one month old yesterday(Tuesday). Can't believe it! She's growing so fast!

I am looking forward to the weekend. Nick, my son, is coming home this weekend from an internship in Lima, Peru. Can't wait to see him and he will be meeting his niece, Emma, for the first time.

I'm back!!!!!

Hello everyone! It has been around two months since my last post. I had just returned from rughooking camp in Tyler, TX. Did I mention I had a great time? Well, it was a great experience and great memories made with friends, Ginger and Jo. Ginger and I will be going to Fredericksburg, TX in September for another great Star of Texas Rughooking Camp. We can't wait...already mentally packing our suitcases with what we need to take with us.

After rughooking camp, I started getting the nursery ready for the new granddaughter expected to arrive in July. Started with painting the walls a light pink. Ashlee found nursery bedding on the internet she really like, but it was out of her price range. So like any good Mom, I said, "Oh, I can make it". We found similar fabric at a local quilt shop, The Savage Quilter. Bought a pattern and proceeded to make the nursery bedding for Emma's room. Here is the finished product...Ashlee was very pleased!!!

We replaced the closet doors with a curtain of the same fabric as the bedding.

Covered wood letters with fabric and added rhinestones. Painted picture frames in coordinating colors. I stitched a child's prayer and put glittery, painted stars around it on the wall above the baby bed.

Also made the small quilt draped on the back of the baby bed. And I can't forget the rocking horse my SIL, Sharon, made for Emma. She matched the color scheme from a picture on the website where Ashlee saw the nursery bedding. She did a marvelous job!!!!

June was a busy month with little time to rughook or stitch. But no complaints here, 'cause when July came it was time for Emma to arrive.

She was born on July 13, 2010 at 6:00pm. She weighed 6 lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long. Just beautiful!!!!! Her first pictures at the hospital, not like the hospital pictures taken when I had my children.

She is now 3 1/2 weeks old and the center of attention. I see her just about every day (maybe missed one or two in the past 3 weeks..lol). So for now she is at the top of my list of priorities.

I still do a little stitching and rughooking late, late in the evening. I am doing a craft show with my friend, Ginger, the first weekend in September, so trying to get some things done. Will post some of them in the next post.

Rughooking Camp

Well, Ginger and I made to camp and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! I was going to post each evening on the things we did, but it just didn't happen. So I will try and tell you all about it now.

We met Maria Barton, our teacher for the week, on Sunday evening. She was supposed to get there at 10:30am but did not arrive until after 10pm. You know how the airlines are...delays, missed connections, etc., but she finally did arrive.

First day of class...color planning the rug picked to hook. Numbers were drawn and each student spent time with Maria picking wools for the rugs. I was #11. My turn came and Maria helped me pick colors for my rug. I spent the rest of the day, hooking and unhooking...just couldn't seem to get the effect I wanted from the rug. Finally did click and here is a picture of my rug in progress.

I was not as fast as my friend, Ginger, who finished 2 rugs and started 2 more during the rughooking camp.

Tuesday was more rughooking and visiting and shopping. Class is over at 3:30pm each day and we headed to the quilt shop, Nimble Thimble. Great selection of hand dyed and as is wool and books. Wonderful quilting fabric also.

After shopping at the quilt store we went to Dairy Queen, our favorite place for ice cream, since we don't have them in Oklahoma anymore. Of course, we did eat a hamburger before having a large dipped cone.

Wednesday was spent hooking on our rugs and then in the afternoon shopping for wool from the other teachers.

It was also the rug show. What an amazing group of ladies at the camp and the rugs were amazing. Here are pictures of some of the rugs:

Happenings!!!!

Lots of things have been happening. Where to begin......
Since the last post, Nick finished finals in DC and came last weekend( May 15)to visit before going to Lima, Peru for a 10-week internship. We had a family get-together and cook-out on Sunday, May 16. There was lots of good food and family time.

He went back to DC on Tuesday, May 18 and left for Lima, Peru on Monday, May 24. He will be back home in OKC on August 14 to see his new niece. Heads back to DC on August 18 for one more year of school. He will graduate in May 2011 with his Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Foreign Service.

I finished piecing my blocks from the hand applique class I took. Here are the last three blocks. Hope to get them stitched soon.

Rest of the week was spent packing for the Star of Texas Rug Camp in Tyler, Texas. Ginger and I left on Sunday, May 23 for Tyler, Texas. The car was packed to the brim. I don't think we left anything behind....lol

We arrived on Sunday afternoon, ready to unpack our rughooking supplies and get busy rughooking. We met Jo, a friend on AAPG ebay group.

I am taking the class with Maria Barton of Star Rug Company. Each student spent time with Maria color planning a rug to hook during the camp. Ginger is doing the "Little Drummer Boy".

Well it is late, late and I better get some rest so I can work on my rug. Will post more pics tomorrow.

What a day we had yesterday! Tornado season is finally here!!! The weathermen had started prepping us on Sunday evening about the dry line coming in and something about a supercell. He said definitely needed to be prepared for violent weather. Well he was right.

I finished my exercise workout around 4pm and headed home. Called Jeff to see what the weather was going to do..it was still sunny and only a few clouds, but it was pretty sticky outside. I wanted to stop at the grocery store before heading home. He said it was all north of us and no worries. Well, was he ever wrong. My friend, Ginger, called me to see if I was watching the weather. Told her I was driving home from exercise and she told me there was a storm coming from the southwest and I needed to get home. Called Jeff back and he turned on the TV and saw what the weather was doing. By the time I got within a mile of home, the wind picked up and it started raining big drops. Made it home just before the hail started. It was marble-size..not too big.

It started raining harder..the sirens start going off..the weatherman says tornado at Yukon(about 10 miles west of us). So we go outside to see...to make the story short..it never came our way...just rained and hailed. But it was still scary because you couldn't really see anything for the rain. It finally moved on east.

Ashlee lives in Moore, OK (where the May 3, 1999 tornadoes hit). I called to check on her and she said it had finally quit raining and hailing. Well, the hail at her house was the size of softballs she said. Jeff and I waited about 30 minutes and then headed to her house to check for damage. As we drove down the street to her house, you could see roofs with holes, cars with windows out, huge dents all over the cars. There were holes in Ashlee's front yard and I couldn't figure out what she had been digging for. Well, it was where the hail hit and when I went to look at one, there was still hail in the hole. Most of the holes were about 4 1/2 inches in diameter. I took some pictures of what was left of the hail. The storm had been over for about 1 1/2 hours, yet the hail was still pretty big. Looked like snowballs.

Damage to the car next door to Ashlee. Lots more damage to it than I had taken pictures of.

Jeff got on Ashlee's roof and checked for holes. None were found, but lots of dents. Looks like one hail hit the gutter and made a big hole.

So we feel very lucky! There are lots of people here that lost their homes and loved ones. Please say a prayer that they will get thru all this destruction.

On to a brighter subject...today I received another birthday present from a friend in my AAPG ebay group. Debbie made me the sweetest prim crow stitchery. The quilt pattern is going to be at the top of my list of things to do this year.

Well, so that's it for now. We are under another tornado watch this evening, but most of the weather is north of us right now.

I have homework for my next applique class on Saturday, so guess I better get busy on Block #2.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all!!!!

I am having a great Mother's Day and hope everyone else is doing the same. Breakfast this morning with Jeff(husband) and then off on another drive to wherever we end up. Actually, we just headed north down one of the main thoroughfares in OKC until it turned to gravel and then headed east. I forgot to pick up my camera before we left, so no pictures )-: Saw lots of green pastures, farm ponds, cows, horses, birds, and large, large houses. It was a very relaxing drive and enjoyed the countryside sites. We arrived back home around 12:30pm to visit with Ashlee and Dominic for Mother's Day. Around 3pm headed to my Mom's house to visit with her. Got back home around 5:30pm. Jeff had a meeting to go to and I am home now, checking emails, blogs and enjoying "me" time.

Last Thursday (May 6) was my birthday. I have never really thought about how old I was until this year. I turned 58 and that sounds old when you say it. However, I have always thought of age as being just a state of mind, so even though it sounds old, in my mind I am not old, 35 years or so...lol. Anyway, I had a great birthday day. I did things I wanted to do...painted the nursery room at Ashlee's home, for my new granddaughter, who will arrive around July 15. Light pink is the color. Again did not have my camera so no pictures. When we get it all finished I will post pictures. Birthday dinner was Mexican food(my favorite) with friends. It was a great birthday.

I received some very special gifts from An American Primitive Gathering, the ebay group I belong to. Chris sent me these wonderful goodies.

She does awesome needlepunch and cross stitch work and I feel very privileged to have received some of her pieces. Her ebay ID is mysticalprimitives. If you get a chance, go look at her listings.

Kathy sent me some beautiful pieces of wool, along with a hooked flower pin that is gorgeous. Some wonderful colors of DMC floss and a "primitives" shelf sitter.

I will be going to rughooking camp in a couple of weeks, so Jeff said he would just give me money to spend on rughooking patterns, wool, wool, and more wool. I said that sounds great to me. Never can have too many patterns or too much wool.

Friday was my hand applique class. I have appliqued before, but decided I wanted to take a class to learn some new tricks and shortcuts. I enjoyed the class immensely. Will be doing 4 blocks out of "Baltimore Basics" by Mimi Dietrich. Here is the first block I have ready to start stitching.

Now, I am more of a primitive type person-reproduction fabrics, muted colors-but sometimes you have to get out of your box and try something new. The fabrics I used are batiks. I will probably just do the 4 blocks and make a wallhanging or put each block in a picture frame. I did learn some new techniques that I can use in my primitive quilts and stitcheries.

What a busy week ahead! Rughooking on Tuesday. Serger class on Wednesday. Sewing Club on Thursday. Monday and Friday morning work at the office and then afternoon exercise workout. Hope to find some garden time also this week. Still need to plant some flowers. The weather has been so strange. Today it is actually pretty cool. Supposed to rain this evening. It has been overcast all day and it does look like it's getting a little dark in the west, so maybe it will rain. Could use it. Garden is starting to look a little dry.

Well guess I better get back to my stitching. Would like to finish the first block so I can start on the second one. I will try and post each block as I finish it.

What an enjoyable....

weekend I spent with family and friends. Saturday was spent with Jeff(my husband). First, we went to the Savage Quilter to buy fabric for the baby bedding I have volunteered to make. They were having an end of the bolt sale..40% off if you bought the whole bolt. Ashlee had found some bedding she liked on this website, sweetpeachesbedding and asked me if I could make it. So as any mother would do, I said of course. Never made anything like this before, but am going to try. Will post the results at a later time. After the quilt shop, we stopped at the Kolache Kitchen for breakfast and headed to El Reno for the Burger Day Festival.

The day is spent cooking an onion-fried hamburger that weighs about 750lbs. We walked around and admired the cars in the car show, looked at crafts, and listened to a couple of bands playing.

We hit the road again around 1pm, heading south. We took the scenic roads.... you know, the old 2-lane highways that go thru the towns. Everything is nice and green and it was a very nice drive. We ended up in Chickasha, OK and ate a late lunch at Jake's Barbeque. The barbeque was delicious; the servings were huge; and we brought enough home for two more meals. We headed home and spent the evening with family.

Sunday was Ashlee's baby shower given by her best friend, Lisa.

Ashlee, and baby-to-be, Emma, received a lot of nice things, especially clothing. This baby will have plenty of clothes to wear for awhile. She even received a baby wipe warmer. I had never seen one, and surely didn't have one of those when I had my children. Ashlee's Aunt Louise, got it for her. She had used one for her granddaughter and said it was the best thing ever.

I didn't get a picture of the last gift Ashlee received. Her Aunt Sharon made her the most beautiful wooden rocking horse. She painted it white and decorated it with pinks and black, like the crib bedding. It was gorgeous. I will take a picture and post it later. Well that was my weekend...lots of fun and family time. What could be better than that!!!!!!

Week ahead will be a busy one. I have some work to do at the office for a couple of days. My one indulgence(besides buying wool and rughooking patterns), a pedicure, on Tuesday. My birthday is Thursday and I'm going to celebrate with a margarita and Mexican food..yum. On Friday, I am taking a hand applique class, learning Baltimore Basics, at the Savage Quilter. I'm excited about the class. I have two applique quilts I want to do in the future so this class will give me the confidence to tackle them.

I do have to clean the house. It seems like it has been ages since I really, really cleaned the house. I mean I HAVE run the vacuum and dusted in the last 6 months. Cleaned the bathrooms when they needed it and kept the dishes washed up in the kitchen. But I have not done some deep cleaning in quite awhile. So today I started...been at it for a few hours and think I might be done for the day...LOL. I have finished one room, actually the front bathroom, the one that no one really uses much..but it is now spic and span in case company comes over. I figure it might take me more than a day to get the whole house done. You know, I have to stop and check emails, check blog posts, go outside to see what's going on, check the flowers, come back in and decide I would rather be hooking or sewing. So I think I am done for today. There is always tomorrow.

Over the past couple of months I have been working on some projects so I will show you what they are. First I go to the Prairie Quilt in Hennessey, OK for Saturday Sampler once a month. Here are my finished blocks so far:

I finished up two challenges from An American Primitive Gathering group I belong to. First one was an adaptation by Kelley of an antique quilt block design.

Second one was a background challenge by Maria Barton of Star Rug Company. She drew up a pattern and then challenged us to use a background color we had not used before. I chose mustard. We received wooly worms of the color we chose from all who participated in the challenge and used them in our rug. It was a lot of fun and I think I might choose to do mustard or a light background again soon.

I finished the little stitchery this past weekend while at a women's conference with my Mom.

I also finished a quilt top for my daughter, Ellena. Just need to piece the back together and quilt it. Hopefully, it will be finished when she and the boys come in June.

And last, I have two rughooking projects I am working on.The first one is a pattern one of the ladies in our rughooking group gave me. She wasn't going to do it and I thought it would be fun to use all my leftover worms.

The second is the 2010 LJ Fibers Rug project. I have almost finished the first part. Laurie sent out an email this week that the second part should be here sometime next week. I haven't hooked anything this big before, but it is going to be beautiful when I finish it. The dots on the rug are straight pins marking places I need to fill in a little bit more.

Oh, I almost forgot. We had a swap on AAPG of textured wooly worms. These are the worms I received. Aren't they wonderful! I love the colors and the textures. Can't wait to use them in a hooking project!

Well, I guess I better get back to doing something besides sitting in front of the computer. Think I will hook a little on my penny rug. I hope everyone is having a great day. The sun is shining here, but we are having wind with gusts to 40mph. Weatherman is talking about rain tomorrow evening. Enjoy your day whatever you may be doing.

What have I been doing??????

Wow, it's been over two weeks since I posted anything, so here goes....

Tax day, April 15th finally arrived and we were in pretty good shape. Got most of the tax returns done and filed by 8pm. No going to the post office this year at midnight. We did file quite a few extensions, but that is normal for us. Always something to do.

Friday, April 16 - Ashlee went to StorkVision and had a 4D ultrasound of baby girl, Emma(she has already picked a name). Here is one of the pictures....it was amazing....she's beautiful. They also received a DVD. Little Emma kept playing hide and seek, though. She would put her hands up in front of her face. They did finally get a picture of her face.

I went with Ashlee to her doctors's appt on April 21. She was having the glucose test and didn't want to sit by herself for an hour. The doctor was also going to check her thyroid again. She had some issues at the beginning of her pregnancy. Well, glucose test was OK, but thyroid was low again, so she has to start taking medicine. We are praying that everything will be OK with baby, Emma.

April 22, Thursday -- I drove my Mom and her friend, Marlene to Joplin, MO to a women's conference at Ozark Christian College. We first drove to Carthage, MO to the Precious Moments Chapel.

It was a very interesting place to see. We drove back to Joplin and checked into our hotel. The conference began on Friday morning with speaker, Suzette Brawner. Lunch break, my Mom and I went to Bittersweet Quilts, a quilt shop in Spring Town, MO. Lots of fabrics and some wool. I bought a block of the month wool applique quilt pattern and a few fat quarters. Headed back to the conference. Another speaker in the afternoon, with workshops and then dinner. We headed back to the hotel around 8:30pm. Several ladies met in the dining area and played card games and watched the NBA basketball game - OKC Thunder and LA Lakers. These women were very amusing. Like a bunch of young teenagers having a slumber party. I think fun was had by all. We went back on Saturday for workshops and a final session with speaker, Suzette. I enjoyed spending time with my Mom and her friends. We headed home Saturday afternoon with one stop in Muskogee OK to visit my Mom's brother, Eddie, who had been hospitalized while we were in Joplin. He is doing OK. It was good to see him. He was smiling and in good spirits, even though he was told he had early Parkinsons. We said prayers with him and then headed home to OKC. Arrived around 9pm.

Today, Sunday, was spent working in the yard with Jeff. He mowed and I cleaned out the front flower beds. Finally finished around 3pm. He treated me to a taco and hot fudge sundae. Figured I had worked hard enough to deserve them...lol. Will be going this week to get flowers to plant. I think it is safe...no more late freezes.

It has been a great day and now am ready to relax and work on some stitching. I will post in the next few days things I have been working on for the past month.

It is a beautiful day here in Oklahoma. Looks like spring has finally sprung. We had some rain Friday morning, but the weekend looks to be a gorgeous one. I am heading to the Farmer's Market this morning to see what they have. This afternoon will be spent outdoors working in the garden. I am ready to get my hands in the dirt and plant some new flowers.

The week has been busy at the office. Another two weeks and I can relax some. Still have 1st quarter reports to do.

I hope the people up Northeast are getting some relief from the rains and floodwaters. It seems like we have really had some unusual weather this year everywhere.

The Bradford Pear trees are showing their white flowers and today was our first really nice day outside with warm temperatures and a light breeze. However, I spent most of it inside working. But that's OK. Soon I will be able to spend more time outside.

March has flown by and soon it will be April 15th. Tax season deadline will be past and maybe more time to spend at home instead of the office. Still first quarter reports and such to get done, but hope to have a week of fun before starting again.

Jeff and I worked a couple of all-nighters last week. I think I survived them better than he did. I like to stay up late, late. Seem to get more things accomplished. Anyway, when I wasn't helping him I was working on some projects I have started. First is a very, very easy "I Spy" quilt. Got each block sewn together; now just need to sew the blocks together and then I will have the top complete.

Also got this one put together...a kit I bought last summer.

I also got to pull some loops on my latest rughooking project. It is the 2010 LJ Fibers Rug project. LJFibers.com Almost finished with the first part. The next part should be here sometime in April.

A couple of weeks ago Linda of http://thewoolcupboard.blogspot.com/ was giving away some hooks she had found to hang hooked rugs. Well, I won! Yes, I was so excited. Well, today when I got home the hooks and some beautiful wool had been delivered by the postman. Thank you, Linda so much. I have never seen any hooks like that, but know they will work great to hang my rugs. The wool bundles are beautiful and can't wait to use them in my next applique project. You are the best!

I also have been working on two challenge projects from the group I belong to, An American Primitive Gathering. I finished the background challenge on a hooked rug by Maria Barton and almost finished the antique quilt pattern challenge by Kelley. I can't post pictures right now, but will do so when it is OK.
